KOCHI:
It was a pleasant surprise for musical brother duo of Christy K Paul and Godly K Paul and music teacher Sumi Soby when were invited to perform in the 212th episode of the ‘Arts and Medicine’ programme at the Ernakulam General Hospital here today.
The all-Wednesday music concert is a joint initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra and is sponsored by CAFS (Casino Air Caterers and Flight Services). The siblings and their teacher replicated the hunting melodies such as ‘Innale Mayangumbol, ‘Manjani Kombil’, ‘Enthinu veroru sooryodayam’, ‘ Pranasakhi’ and ‘ Jab chale chale’. In all, they sang 14 songs, eliciting an exuberant response from the crowd comprising patients, doctors and bystanders.
Godly said he had been reading a lot about the programme through the social media and was keen to take part in it. “When my uncle and aunty suggested the same, we decided to participate in the Arts and Medicine programme,” he added.
Godly, who is in first year B.Com in Mount Carmel College, Kothamangalam, had earlier participated in Amrita Super Star Junior Season 4 and Asianet Start Singer Season 7. He sang along with his teacher Sumi Sobi and younger brother, Christy K Paul. Sumi works with Kalagruham which is a part of Kalabhavan.
“I had once studied at Kalagruha. Since then, I have been collaborating with my teacher in several programmes. We are extremely happy to collaborate once again for today’s programme,” Godly pointed out.
Christy, a 9th grade student, is studying in Little Flower HS, Oonnukal. He has also participated in Amrita Super Star Junior 5. Both the brothers have won several awards in school youth festivals.
