THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Offering a unique digital learning experience in a new-age technology, Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA) under the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala (IIITM-K) has launched an online course to impart blockchain knowledge — a ‘break the chain’ initiative to fend off coronavirus.

The course, CBA Online Programme, will benefit students, developers, entrepreneurs, business analysts and others keen to explore and leverage the enormous global potential of blockchain technology with applications in a diverse range of sectors such as banking, healthcare, governance, insurance, education, smartcity, and supply chain.

“The mission is to impart blockchain knowledge digitally and is integral to its ‘break the chain’ initiative that is crucial for dealing with the corona virus. The 30-hour self-paced course will glide both beginners and those having a little knowledge of blockchain” a senior KBA faculty member said.

The course will cover topics like history of blockchain, its application in various transactions and the importance of consensus in transactions. Also, the learner can have a broad understanding of technologies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hyperledger and Corda along with the practical use-cases of blockchain in various industries.

The first online course from KBA, the fully digitised programme comes at a time when there is a rising need for blockchain education, by factoring in the most pressing need of “Break the Chain” for combating Coronavirus.

Blockchain is emerging as the most sought out technology in the current computing world. A report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) notes that a lot of people are expected to join the blockchain space in the coming years.

About 45 per cent of companies worldwide are shifting their focus to blockchain technologies in terms of their expansion. Already business stalwarts like IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Facebook and Amazon are utilizing this cutting-edge technology to streamline their operations and expand their businesses. According to statistics generated by major online job search engines, the demand for blockchain specialists in 2020 is six times higher than it was in 2017.

An initiative of the Government of Kerala, KBA has been constantly exploring the disruptive potential of blockchain technology for achieving public good. Partnering with giant brains of blockchain such as Linux Foundation and R3 Consortium, it keeps bringing innovations in the field of research, development and entrepreneurship.

The Academy has also conducted a number of highly rewarding blockchain courses, ranging from the basic foundation programme to the advanced developer course. For more details, visit:https://elearning.kba.ai.
