April 12, 2016

In this hotter, longer, lazier days of summer, life seems like a chaos.
Not only kids but parents also tend to adopt a ‘school’s out!’ attitude.
It’s the perfect time to travel, explore new destinations as it is
sunny and adventure is waiting at every corner of the world.

During this time of the year it feels like the sun is out to get us.
So these are a few health tips to beat the sun at its own game.

1. Drink lots of water
Don’t let temperature drain you out. Keep your body hydrated. So drink plenty
of water, at least eight to nine glasses of water a day to avoid rapid fluid
loss. If drinking water is colorless then add colorful and frozen treats
to your plans like a healthy fruit juice , green tea , coconut water ,
ice creams , yoghurt etc. Always stay hydrated as the sun does its level best
to drain all the water out of our body in the form of sweat etc.

2. Wear flabby and light cloths
Add loose and vivid cloths to your wardrobe this summer as tight and dark colored
cloths trap heat coming from the sun , keeping our body warm and making us feel
hot and drained. Whereas loose-fitting and light-colored cloths reflect heat ,
helping our body to maintain normal temperature.

3. Take cool showers punctually
When all else fails, taking a cool bath or shower once or twice a day
cools down our body and makes us feel relaxed. Regular cold showers
help to reduce heat loss, decrease our core body temperature, and
regulate overall body temperature. Along with increasing your adaptation
to stressful situations, they will lower levels of uric acid, and boost levels
of Glutathione in your blood – making us less stressed.

4. Aim for a healthy diet
Include lots of salads in your diet. Consuming leafy vegetables like cabbage,
broccoli, cucumbers, onions etc. in your diet makes your body stay cool.
leafy vegetable are consumed during summer because they contain a
significant amount of water which has a cooling effect. Onions too are
great in the summer, because of their ability to beat the heat and provide
relief from summer ailments. So, throw in some onion slices onto
a sandwich, or in your salad to kick out problems during the summer.

5. Eat light, small, frequent meals
Start the day with a healthy breakfast. Include lots of ripe summer fruits like
peaches, plums, melons and pears, Mangoes etc. in your diet. Eat whole
or extract their juice, store in the refrigerator and consume throughout the day.

6. If you get burnt due to sun stroke, seek relief
Sometimes while standing under the scorching sun we may get burned due
to sun stroke or heat stroke. We should get immediate relief from natural products like green tea or onion juice as they are potent
antioxidants that can neutralize cellular damage caused by the sun’s rays.

7. Easy with the work outs
Strenuous activities should be reduced during hot days, especially during the
sun’s peak hours (11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). If these activities cannot be avoided,
do them during the coolest time the day, which is usually in the morning between
4:00 a.m. and 7:00 am.
