Fab Lab’s Digital Fabrication Workshop Series from Oct. 28

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
FabLab Kerala, promoted by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), will conduct a workshop series on the topic “Introduction to Digital Fabrication” from October 28 to December 23 (on six Saturdays).
The workshops are designed to give an overview of all the rapid prototyping capabilities of a Fab facility. Participants will get to work on various prototyping methods like 3D printing, laser cutting, screen printing, designing and fabricating custom printed circuit boards and CNC milling using 3-axis large format CNC milling machine in this hands-on workshop series.
FabLab will organise the workshops at its facility on Technopark campus in the capital city and the Kerala Technology Innovation Zone at North Kalamassery in Ernakulam during this period. The duration of these workshops will be four hours — from 10 am to 5 pm.
A workshop on “2D Designing and Cut with Big CNC Mill Machine” will be held on October 28 from 10am.
The schedule for November and December is as follows: PCB Designing and Making (Nov. 4, 10 am), 3D Designing and Printing (Nov. 18, 1 pm), 2D Designing and Cutting (Nov. 25, 1 pm), 2D Designing and Screen Printing (Dec.16, 1 pm), and Product Design Workshop (Dec. 23, 1 pm).
FabLab is involved in setting up state-of-the-art fabrication laboratories in Kerala to encourage startups in printed electronics and other such fields. KSUM has associated with Centre for Bits and Atoms, MIT Fab Lab Foundation, USA for this purpose. For details, visit: www.fablabkerala.in​
