March 19, 2018

KOCHI:
While there is an increasing awareness that the exponential growth in data will be the “fuel of future”, a powerful tool for strategising in technology-driven world and most valuable resource for change and growth, experts across the sectors are still agitated on how to refine and leverage data as the world is on the cusp of disruptive changes.
This is a key topic to be debated by leading experts from around the world at Kerala’s first ever Global Digital Summit # FUTURE, being held in Kochi on March 22-23.
The expertise companies would require to cope up with the explosion of digital data, the skills required by data analysts, the businesses that are going to refine data from disparate sources and the implications of data proliferation on privacy protection – these will be among the issues that would be animatedly discussed by the panellists at the event to be held at Le Meridien hotel.
The speakers at the session are: Alok Ohrie, President and Managing Director, Dell EMC; Devadas Varma, Founder and CEO, Entrinsia INC; Dr Suku Nair, Director, SMU At & T Center for Virtualization, Dallas; and Sajan Pillai, CEO, UST Global. Senior digital journalist Nandagopal Rajan will be the moderator
Over 90 per cent of the world’s data has been created in the last two years and the total base is predicted to increase voluminously in the coming years, as the world’s most valuable resource. While five of world’s most valuable companies were in the oil industry in 2007, seven of world’s ten top companies are in the data industry in 2017.
The phenomenal spurt in data has spurred companies around the world to rejig their competitive strategies and create unique stocks of data capital. Every interaction with the digital world leaves behind a trail of data which has spurred a transition from a system of records to a system of intelligence.
Whilst data still remains largely under-utilized, those who have started treating it as an enterprise-wide corporate asset and making data-driven decisions, are in a better position to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer service and retention rates. Experts contend that while Internet is emerging as the enabler and the marketplace of the global economy, data is indeed the fuel of the future. But like crude, data needs to be refined and even monetized.
The panel will cover vital areas like differences awaiting the businesses in five to ten years, the impact of the changes on enterprises and individuals, the planning and strategy of companies in address the challenges and the benefits for a state like Kerala from the changes. The delegates to #FUTURE will comprise senior corporate executives, start-up ventures, existing and potential entrepreneurs, trade body representatives, technocrats, government officials, professionals and academics, students and private individuals.
