IcONMAT 2019 Inaugurated at Cochin University

“The major share of the energy requirement of the world will be met by solar energy in the next 10 years,” said Prof. Ayodhya N Tiwari, Head of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Sciences and Technology (EMPA, Switzerland).

He was inaugurating the third International Conference on Optoelectronics and Nanomaterials for advanced technologies (icONMAT) jointly organized by the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Materials (CAM) and Inter University centre
for Nanomaterials and Devices (IUCND) at Cochin University of Science and Technology. A plenary talk by Prof. Tiwari on the “Advancement in thin film solar cells emerging opportunities” followed.

The research park at IIT Madras has resulted in preventing the brain drain and the graduates are involved in startup projects, and within the next five years we will have more products made in India’’ he added. Dr.R.Sasidharan, Vice Chancellor, CUSAT presided over the function. The souvenir of the conference was released by Prof. R Ravindranathan Tambi SFI-Stoke Professor and Vice –Principal of Internationalization for Engineering & Architecture, University College, Dublin, Ireland.
