KSUM Calls Applications for Fab Academy Diploma Programme

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has invited applications for the six-month global diploma programme in Digital Fabrication, conducted by the Fab Academy under it.

The candidates getting admission to the programme, commencing in January, 2019 in FabLabs set up here and in Kochi, are entitled to up to 85 per cent scholarship . The Last date of application is December 25, 2018. KSUM has set up FabLab Kerala with two nodal state-of-the-art facilities in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, to bolster hardware development and its ecosystem through rapid digital prototyping via hands-on technical education. The programme is meant to promote innovation by improving individuals’ abilities and to provide a platform for expressing themselves.

The programme is directed by MIT Professor Dr Neil Gershenfield, based on MIT’s course “How to Make Almost Anything”. The course is specially targets graduates, engineers, artists, designers, makers and students, who want to explore material science, 3D printing, electronics, programming, network communication, 2D/3D designing, moulding and casting and similar streams.

The programme connects all 1500 FabLabs the world over and the students can access online the classes handled by trainers and teachers attached to them. The candidates completing the programme stand to get jobs in India and abroad.
