National Entrepreneurship Award to Tejaswini Coconut Producer Company

Thejaswini Coconut Farmers Producer Company Ltd at Kannur has been selected as the winner of the National Entrepreneurship Award 2017 under Barefoot Enterprises category instituted by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The award winner will receive award money of Rs. 5 lakhs,trophy and certificate under this category.
To honour the winners, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is organising the National Entrepreneurship Awards 2017 Ceremony on Thursday, 9 th November 2017 at 3.00 pm at NDMC Convention Centre, Sansad Marg, Hanuman Road Area, Connaught Place, New Delhi – 110001. The Award ceremony is likely to be presided over by Minister of Finance, Arun Jaitely and will be attended by other Cabinet Ministers, prominent entrepreneurs, senior government officials, industry, mentors, credit agencies, incubators, academia and young students etc from across the country.
Sunny George, Chairman of the company and then Karshakasree Award Winner has been invited for receiving the award. Also, the Ministry intends to record a 30-60 seconds film of all the winners showcasing their experiences with a short message by the winners. This film will be played while conferring the Award to the winner during the Awards Ceremony and will be telecasted widely through various multi-media channels across the country.
Thejaswini Coconut Farmers Producer Company Ltd. (TCFPCL) is a producer company promoted by Coconut Development Board, Ministry of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. It was registered under company’s act of India on 3 rd June 2013. Thejaswini is implementing the central schemes of Government of India and state schemes of government of Kerala for agriculture development of small and marginal farmers in agribusiness activities.
The company also procures coconut and agri produces from farmers and processed at their plant at Peringome, Kannur. As part of Skill Development Training Programme of Coconut Development Board, Company had organized 24 batches of FOCT and 8 batches of Neera Technician training programmes at their training centers. The company is pioneer in organizing small and marginal farmers as Farmer Producer Societies, Farmers Producers Federations for endowing them with collective power and economies of scale.
At present 30000+ small and marginal farmer members via 272 Farmer Producer Societies and 15 Farmer Producer Federations are affiliated with Thejaswini. It provides a platform for increased accessibility and cheaper availability of agricultural inputs to small and marginal farmers and in establishing forward and backward linkages in supply chain management. This initiative has triggered mobilization of farmers for aggregation across the Kannur and Kasargod districts of Kerala with ultimate aim of sustainable business model and augmented incomes.
Recently the company has been entered in to the task of Responsible Tourism (RT) initiatives of department of tourism, Government of Kerala to integrate the products, services and the local community for utilizing the opportunities in tourism.
