Responsible Tourism Awareness Workshop in Kollam on April 20

As part of kick-starting various initiatives under the Responsible Tourism Mission in Kollam district, a one-day awareness workshop will be organized here on Friday, April 20.
To be inaugurated by Mukesh MLA, at The Vaidya Hotel in Chinnakkada, the awareness workshop would aim at creating awareness among employees of the local self-governance institutions in the district, Kudumbasree employees, farmers, artisans, traditional workers, farm stay, home stay entrepreneurs, hotels, resorts and houseboat entrepreneurs, and tour guides on the various Responsible Tourism measures being rolled out by the State Responsible Tourism Mission and Kerala Tourism.
P. Bala Kiran, Director, Kerala Tourism, will welcome the gathering, while Rani George, IAS, Secretary, Department of Tourism, Kerala, will deliver the opening remarks. The function to be presided over by V. Rajendrababu, Mayor, Kollam Corporation, will have the participation of C. Radhamani, Panchayat President, Kollam, and Dr. S Karthikeyan, District Collector and Chairman DTPC, Kollam. Honey Benjamin, Counselor, Kollam Corporation, X. Ernst, Member, DTPC, Kollam; K Rajkumar, Deputy Director, Kerala Tourism, Kollam, and C. Santhosh Kumar, Secretary, DTPC, Kollam, will offer felicitations. K. Rupesh Kumar, Co-ordinator, State Responsible Tourism Mission, will propose a vote of thanks.
The awareness sessions will get underway at 11.30 AM and will go on till 12.30 PM. The classes will impart the basics on Responsible Tourism, and how the initiatives would function. Classes will be led by K Rupesh Kumar, Coordinator, State Responsible Tourism Mission; V.S. Kamalasan, Finance & Administrative Officer, Responsible Tourism; Biji Xavier, Mission Co-ordinator; and M.K. Midhun, District Mission Co-ordinator. The awareness classes will be followed by a Group Discussion and will conclude with deliberations on the suggestions.
