  • With 1 Million Instagram Followers, Kerala Blasters Among the Biggest Clubs in Asia

By NE Reporter on August 5, 2019

    KOCHI:
Kerala Blasters emerge as the first Football Club in India to hit the 1 Million mark on Instagram. This is proof of the love and passion that Kerala, a state that has the legacy of creating some of the finest footballers in the country, has towards the sport.

Formed on 24 th May 2014 as one of the 8 clubs that played the ISL, Kerala Blasters have grown to become the largest fan followed football club in the country and the 5 th largest fan followed club in Asia with a total following of 3.9 Million fans on social media combining Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The 1 Million mark on Instagram is a whopping milestone for the club, leading by a sizeable margin compared to other football clubs on the platform. It is also noteworthy that the club’s fanbase is higher than some of the IPL clubs in a country where cricket is the most watched sport.

With an estimated contribution of 45% to the total ISL viewership and KBFC matches consistently among the top 10 most watched programmes in Kerala, the club is a true beacon of growing football in India. Kerala blasters are also among the top 10 Non-European Clubs with the highest average stadium attendees, with an average attendance of approx. 40000 fans during the 5 years of the ISL. Being the award winner of the “Best ISL pitch of the year” in 2018, the club also prides in having one of the best footballing facilities in India.

‘We have the strongest growth fundamentals in all aspects of a football club. The social media interaction and engagement is just another demonstration of this. We are on our way in becoming the biggest club in Asia.’, says Viren D’Silva, CEO, Kerala Blasters FC.

Having a well-built foundation and a clear road-map, the goals of the club are equally supported by its long-standing partners who have shown active participation in co-promoting the brand to be the best in the industry.
