Anne Hathaway will be UN goodwill ambassador to promote women’s rights

 

 

New York: Oscar-winning US actress Anne Hathaway has been chosen  Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women.
Known for her roles in “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Brokeback Mountain” and “The Dark Knight Rises,” Anne won an Academy Award in 2013 for her role in “Les Miserables.”
UN Women, a UN body, seeks to make raising children an equal responsibility for mothers and fathers.

Anne, a longstanding supporter of women’s and girls’ rights, plans to put the spotlight on women’s work at home caring for their families. She regards it a key barrier to gender equality.

Anne will promote policies such as affordable childcare and parental leave.
