ANGAMALY:
Apollo Adlux Hospital, Angamaly successfully performs a Kidney Transplant Surgery on a 38-year-old woman from Thodupuzha. The patient had been undergoing dialysis treatment for the past one year due to kidney failure caused by hypertension. She received a kidney from her 64-year-old father in this life-saving procedure. Following a series of rigorous evaluations and tests, doctors at the hospital determined that the father’s kidney was a perfect match, paving the way for the transplant surgery.
Dr. Roy P. John and Dr. Biju Pillai Sukumaran, Senior Consultants from the Department of Urology, led the transplant surgery on June 19, 2024. Dr. Jojo Pullockara and Dr. Manju Kamal, Senior Consultants, along with Dr. Remyasri Akhil, Associate Consultant from the Department of Nephrology, and doctors from the Department of Anesthesia, were also part of the team. The No Induction Protocol, eliminating the use of induction agents, was employed due to the father-to-daughter relationship. “This successful First Kidney Transplant at Apollo Adlux Hospital represents the culmination of teamwork across various departments, showcasing our commitment to providing advanced surgical solutions to patients.” stated Dr. Roy P. John. “The patient has recovered well with no post-surgical complications. Her elevated creatinine levels are normal, and her kidney function is stable too. Both the recipient and donor are doing good” said Dr. Jojo Pullockara.
“This kidney transplant surgery is a milestone for Apollo Adlux Hospital and we are proud to have successfully completed it,” said Sudarshan B, CEO of the Apollo Adlux Hospital. “The combined expertise of the team of doctors and the state-of-the-art technology has given the patient a second birth. Apollo Adlux will always be a shadow for patients seeking diagnosis, treatment, and management.” he added.
