9 Companies Attended Pre-bid Meeting of Kozhikode Waste-to-energy Project

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The pre-bid meeting of waste-to-energy Project planned in Kozhikode held at the office of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation on Monday.

The meeting was attended by nine prospective bidders, including two German companies and one Singapore-based company. The queries and doubts raised by the bidders were clarified in the meeting. The bidders expressed satisfaction at the revised project structure and informed their willingness to participate in the bidding process. January 7, 2019 is the last date for the submission of bids.

The Government of Kerala has taken steps to set up centralized integrated waste-to-energy plants at identified locations across the state. The cabinet meeting held on November 21, 2018 approved the revised project structure and the tender documents for the selection of agency for development of the projects. Subsequently the tender for the waste-to-energy plant proposed at Njalianparambu in Kozhikode district was floated on November 22, 2018 in Government e – tender portal.

The tender for waste-to-energy project at Kozhikode was floated earlier in June 2018. The amount quoted for the power tariff for the power being produced in the plant was the bidding criteria at that time. Even after extending the last date for submission of bids for two times, no bids were received from bidders. In that circumstance, the state government has decided to change the bidding criteria to the Tipping Fee per ton of waste collected and processed. Further the project structure was also revised to make it more investor friendly.
