DUBAI:
A Dubai Court has ordered a compensation of Rs One Crore (5,75,000 UAE Dirham), including court expense, to a Kasargod native who was injured in a vehicle accident.
Kasargod Uduma native Umesh Kumar, who was working as bus driver at Dubai RTA, will receive the compensation. Umesh Kumaran met with an accident at Emirates Road on September 25, 2016. Umesh Kumaran was a pedestrian when a car driven by a Malayali lost control and rammed into the foot path.
Subramanian Babu, who was along with Umesh Kumar, died. Umesh was admitted to a hospital at Sharjah and later shifted to Kasargod.
The Malayali who had driven was car was sentenced to two months jail term and ordered a compensation of One Lakh UAE Dirham to the deceased. Malabar Gold employee Vineeth Kumar and others approached social worker and legal representative of Ali Ibrahim Associates, Salam Pappinnisseri, to file a compensation case in connection with the accident.
A case was filed at the Dubai Court against the Malayali driver and insurance company. Ali Ibrahim Associates argued that negligence and over speed led to the accident, in which the lone dependant of a family was injured. It has also decided to approach the appeal court to get a higher compensation, informed Salam Pappinnisseri.
