Ezhuthachan’s Adhyathmaramayanam is the democratic way of approaching devotion, said K. Jayakumar, Former Vice Chancellor, Malayalam University.
Keralites often like to criticize Rama considering him as a human, not a sacred icon. The contemporary society of Kerala do have freedom and tolerance to criticize Rama as a ruler and a courteous man. However the story of Rama will inspire generations to interpret and generate new works in literature, he added.
K. Jayakumar was delivering the keynote address in the closing ceremony of the three-day national seminar on ‘Ramasankalpa in Kerala’, jointly organised by the Department of Hindi at Cochin University of Science and Technology and Bharatiya Sahitya Pratishtan, Kochi Chapter at CUSAT Seminar Complex. The cultural habits followed by Indians were formed out of our Epics Ramayana and Mahabharatha, said Dr. V. K. Abdul Jaleel, Vice President, Bharatiya Sahitya Pratishtan, Kochi Chapter who was presiding over the meeting.

Rajesh, Head, department of Malayalam, Keralavarma College, Thrissur on the topic ‘Ramasankalpa in Indian Movies, Dr. K. Ramesan, Asst. Professor, Govt. College, Kalpatta on the topic ‘ Tribal Ramayanas’, Prof. Nalin Babu, Mural painting Institute, Guruvayoor on the topic ‘Ramasankalpa in paintings’, Dr. K.
Jayaraj, Director, Folkland, Thrikkarippoor on the topic ‘Ramasankalpa in poorakkali and Theyyam’, Dr. K.G. Paulose, Former Vice Chairman, Kerala Kalamandalam on the topic ‘Ramasankalpa in Koodiyattam and Kathakali’ presented papers in the morning session.
Team Folkland Thrikkarippor presented Poorakkali and Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan presented Ramaleela in connection with the seminar.
