Payyanur: Two activists of CPM and BJP were hacked to death at Kunnaru in Payyanur, a town in the Kannur district on Monday night.
CV Dhanaraj (36) , a CPM activist was hacked in front of his family members by gang of masked assailants who barged in to his house around 10 pm. Though he was rushed to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, he succumbed to injuries. CPM alleged that RSS activists were behind the criminal act.
Wthin hours, a BMS worker C K Ramachandran( 52) was fatally stabbed at his house in Annoor . BJPaccused CPM of committing the crime.
Both murders have led to retaliatory attacks against the houses of activists belonging to both CPM and BJP. Tension prevails in the area.
