THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The centenary year foundation day of SMSS Hindu Mahila Mandiram, one of Kerala’s pioneering women’s welfare and empowerment institutions, will be celebrated here on January 5.
Eminent Sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman will inaugurate a photo exhibition showcasing the 100 years of Mahila Mandiram at 4 pm. K Raman Pillai, Former State President, BJP, will deliver a commemorative speech on K Chinnamma, founder, Hindu Mahila Mandiram, and also pay homage at her memorial on the occasion.
Dr Sulekha Kurup will give a keynote address at the function. Prof. KR Ravindran Nair; V Mohandas, President, Vidyadhiraja Chattambi Swami Seva Sangham; K.Y. Radhalekshmi, President, Mahila Mandiram; M. Sreekumari, Secretary; and Meena Ramesh, Joint Secretary, will also attend.
As part of the celebrations, various cultural programmes by the inmates of the institution will be staged. The photo exhibition that will be open to public till January 6.
The charitable organization was founded by Chinnamma with the aim of educating, empowering and rehabilitating girls from less privileged background, irrespective of religion or caste.
