Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran unveiled the brochure of Chaliyar River Challenge 2018, a joint initiative by Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society and Kozhikode-based Jellyfish Watersports, at the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) here.
Chaliyar River Challenge 2018 is being organised under the aegis of Kerala Tourism Department as part of encouraging adventurous tourism sector in the state.
Kerala Tourism Secretary Rani George, and Senior Vice President, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) E M Najeeb received the brochure from the Minister.
The 68-km kayaking championship, which will be held from October 12 to 14 in the Chaliyar river, will kick off from Nilambur in Malappuram district and will conclude at Beypore in neighbouring Kozhikode district. More than 100 contestants from inside the country and abroad will be taking part in the competition, which is expected to give a fillip to the tourism sector in Malabar.
Tourism Director P Bala Kiran, KTM President Baby Mathew, Tourism India MD Ravi Shankar, Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society CEO Manesh Bhaskar and Jellyfish Watersports MD Kaushiq Kodithodika were also present on the occasion.
