COIMBATORE:
Cochin Port Trust and Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Coimbatore held a joint Trade Meet at Coimbatore on 07.06.2019 which was also attended by DP World, Cochin representing Cochin Port’s Container Terminal.
The meeting was presided over by V. Lakshminarayanasami,, President, ICCI, Coimbatore. The Keynote address was given by Dr. M. Beena, Chairperson, Cochin Port Trust. Dr. P. Tamilvanan, Advisor, Marketing, Cochin Port Trust addressed the gathering.
Major importers and exporters in the Coimbatore region, President and office bearers of the Steamer Agents and Custom Brokers Association, Coimbatore attended the meeting. A presentation was made by Jimmy George, Sr. Deputy Traffic Manager, Cochin Port Trust on the facilities available at Cochin Port, the status of major projects and the investment opportunities available at the Port.
Praveen Thomas Joseph, CEO, IGTPL made a presentation on the vessel schedules and operational aspects at International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT). The concerns raised by the trade at Coimbatore region were addressed at the interactive session held at the end of the meeting. The suggestions made by the trade were appreciated by the Chairperson, Cochin Port Trust who agreed to look into the proposals for taking them forward. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by D. Anilkumar, Deputy Traffic Manager, Cochin Port Trust.
