CPT Receives Award for Highest Growth

Ministry of  Shipping has given an award to Cochin Port Trust for Best Performance for achieving the highest growth in operating surplus for year 2015-16. Ministers Award to Cochin Port
Cochin Port Trust’s Operating Surplus increased to Rs.70.9  crores in 2015-16  from Rs. 19.55 crores during 2014-15 which is 262 % increase. G. Senthilvel, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust received the award from Nitin J. Gadkari, Union Minister of Shipping during a brief function  held after the review meeting of all Major Ports taken by the Minister at Goa.   Dr. C. Unnikrishnan Nair, Traffic Manager, CoPT was also present.
Such a steep increase in the operating surplus was possible due to cost reduction measures and extensive marketing to increase the throughput taken by the Cochin Port Trust.
