As part of international seminar on ‘Metamorphosis of Maritime Innovations’ and Techno- Cultural Fest (propulzo 2k17) organizes by The Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, CUSAT the ‘Ship-In- Campus’ will be opened to public on 9 th , 10 th and 11 th August.
This will be an opportunity to closely observe and understand the functionality of a ship. The Ship-In- Campus Lab is a very high tech lab and entire machinery and equipments of a ship including propeller, steering machinery and rudder etc. are taken out and installed inside a concrete hull as per the instructions of DG Shipping, under the guidance of senior consultant from IIT, Kharagpur. The training given inside this lab enables the students to get fully familiarized with the actual working of the engine room machinery and equipments of a ship and hands on experience.
The programme will be formally inaugurated at 3:30 PM on 10 th at the Seminar hall of the School in a function presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. J. Letha. Sanjay Chandra, Executive Director, M/s Fleet Management Ltd., Hong Kong ,the chief guest will inaugurate the seminar and Capt. Josekutty Thomas FNI, President, The Nautical Institute, India South West, Cochin, the Guest of Honour will formally inaugurate the Techno- Cultural Fest. Dr. S. David Peter, Registrar, CUSAT, Dr. K.A. Simon, Director, KMSME will speak. The keynote lectures on Emission control, Situation awareness, Polar Code, IGF code etc by eminent academicians will be held as part of International seminar. The competition of
fashion show (prize worth Rs. 50,000), Music band (prize worth Rs. 35,000), and solo dance performance (prize worth Rs. 40,000), will be organized as part of fest, informed Prof. N.G. Nair, Course in Charge.
