New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will attend Mother Teresa’s sainthood ceremony on September 4 in Vatican City. He has accepted the invitation of the Missionaries of Charity.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also agreed to be present at the ceremony.

Arvind Kejriwal had worked with Mother Teresa for a few months at the Nirmal Hriday Ashram in Kolkata.

He had come out publicly, defending Mother Teresa’s work when RSS Chief Mohan Bhagat alleged that Mother Teresa’s agenda was to convert the poor.

Mother Teresa, who was beatified in 2003, will be declared a saint by Pope Francis at the ceremony.

A delegation of Bishops had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 25 and asked him to lead a group to the canonization ceremony at the Vatican.
