Development Activities at Infopark will be able to give Strength to the State’s IT Boom: Chief Minister

The development activities at Info park will be able to give strength to the state’s IT boom, says Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was speaking in an online event to inaugurate the sixth floor of Jyothirmaya building at Info park Phase II, which has been completed under the government’s 100 days programme.

He said that progressive activities which will boost the multifaceted development of the state are happening and steps are being taken for the construction of new IT parks. He said that the newly established development activities will help in the progress of the country, the growth of the IT industry and the improvement of the standard of living of the people.

In the online ceremony, Dr Rathan U Kelkar IAS, Secretary, Department of Information and Electronics Technology gave the opening remarks. Info park CEO Susanth Kurunthil and Kerala IT Parks Chief Marketing Officer Manjit Cherian participated in the event.

At the event held in Info park, Kunnathunadu MLA Adv. P.V. Sreenijin presided over the ceremony. Vadavucode Puthencruz Grama Panchayath President Soniya Murukesan, Ward Member Nawas Mathrakattu, Kunnathunadu Grama Panchayath Member Nissar Ibrahim, Vadavucode Block Panchayath Development Standing Committee Chairman Jubil George, LDF District Convener George Edapparathy, and local representatives N.V. Vasu and Paulose Mudakkanthala participated in the programme. Infopark Administration Manager Regi K Thomas gave the welcome address and Info park AGM (Business Development and Operations) Sreejith Chandran delivered the vote of thanks.

The IT/ITES companies that are going to operate from the new facilities were felicitated at the
programme and letters of consent were handed over as part of the commencement of operations in the Special Economic Zone.

Led by the Department of Electronics & IT, the 35,000 square feet facility has nine plug and play offices with a built-up space ranging from 500 square feet to 9100 square feet and with various seating capacity (11 seats to 170 seats). Each office is equipped with workstations, separate cabins, meeting/discussion rooms, and other facilities.

Apart from this, the sixth floor consists of a conference room with various facilities and two pantries. The nine offices have the potential to generate 550 direct employment. All the nine office spaces have already been booked by various IT/ITES companies. Health-tech, web development, software development, software as a service, and cloud computing are some of the sectors that the companies work on.

At present, there are 1900 IT employees working across 48 companies in Jyothirmaya, which is a ten-stored IT complex built in 2017 on the banks of Kadambrayar river in Kakkanad. The building is equipped with state-of-the-art offices, conference rooms, auditorium, bank, ATM, food court, a multi-level car parking, EV charging station and a helipad.

Infopark CEO Susanth Kurunthil said that the development activities that are underway are milestones for the growth of Info park and that this in turn will strengthen the IT boom of Kerala. Various modes of connectivity, excellent talent pool, and various social and physical conditions attract global companies to Info park. He added that the activities carried out at Info park, including the recently constructed facilities in the sixth floor of Jyothirmaya building, are aimed at creating a better IT ecosystem.
