Development is the Enhancement of the Total Capital Stock: Dr. Madhav Gadgil

Noted environment Scientist Padma Bhushan Dr. Madhav Gadgil said that the development of the State should not be viewed in terms of Mega projects, which will haphazard sustainability of the nature. According to him the upper way to think of development is that it should lead to an enhancement of the total capital of the nation like natural, human and social capital.
He was delivering the concluding lecture in connection with the ‘Aanukaalikam’ lecture series organised by School of Legal Studies, Cusat in collaboration with Advt. R. Balagopal Memorial Trust at Cusat.
“The decision making power regarding big projects should be come down to grass root level, ultimately to Gramasabhas and the decisions should be arrived through a democratic process.
Dr. P.S. Seema, Director, School of Legal studies and Dr. Harikumar, Professor, Applied Economics spoke.
