PANAJI:
Two fisherman from Quepem age 51 and 55 ventured into the sea in a small fishing boat from Mobor river in Cavelossim, South Goa on 2nd June 2017 at approximately 10:45 hours.
After venturing 400 meters into the sea the fishing boat caught a late wave and turned turtle, throw
Lifeguard Bapu Tari manning the point at Mobor at that time spotted the incident and rushed to their aid with a rescue tube after relaying a rescue message to the lifeguarding tower alerting fellow lifeguards.
Immediately lifeguard Sarvesh B. Goankar set off on the Jet Ski to reach the spot and secured both the victims bringing them safely back to the shore. In the meanwhile lifeguard Lavu Goankar posted at Cavelossim also reached the spot with the Jet ski and brought back the marooned fishing boat back to the shore.
The vitals of both the victims were checked and since all was found to be normal the victims were released immediately.
Drishti Lifesaving cautions locals as well as the tourist not to venture into the sea presently as the weather conditions can be unpredictable. This is the third instance of a double rescue by lifeguards in the past four weeks.
