KOCHI:
Ernakulam native Swathi Shankar won bronze at the 10th International Shitoryu Karatedo Championship held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Swati Shankar represented India in the 12-13 age group above 47kg Female Kumite category. Swathi is the 8th standard student of Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor. The matches were held from 22nd to 24th September.
The competitions were organized by the Asia Pacific Shitoryu Karate Federation. Swathi is the daughter of Binoj Shankar and Darshana AR, both of whom are deputy managers at the Cochin Shipyard. This is the first time Swati is participating in an international competition.
