After 12 weeks of action, the first edition of the FC Goa Junior Gaurs U-10 League comes to a close tomorrow with four teams in contention to be crowned the inaugural champions. St. Josephs of Chandor, Assumpta High, Sunshine School and St. Thomas High School have all come through intense competition to take their place i
n the last four and are two victories away from being crowned champions.
The tournament was launched on the 2nd of December at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda with FC Goa’s entire senior team and staff in attendance. The Junior Gaurs League, which is the first of its kind in the state, is an initiative of the FC Goa Grassroots Program and has seen 63 schools take part in the competition with 8 different venues across Goa playing hosts.
The tournament has seen a very positive response with 882 players havi
ng taken part in the league to date and has drawn significant amounts of following from the parents of the participants and onlookers alike.
The semi finals and finals are slated to take place tomorrow at Nagoa Village Panchayat Ground, Verna. The semi finals are scheduled for kick off at 3.30pm and 4pm respectively, with the final kicking off at 5.30pm.
