GOA:
FC Goa organised a Grassroots Festival at the Vidya Vikas Academy in Margao, Goa which saw kids turn up in large numbers to be a part of fun activities and football drills planned by the club.
Aimed at providing children access to the sport through fun and professionally organised technical sessions, the grassroots festival saw participation from over 100 students from the Vidya Vikas Academy School and was considered a massive success.
The children participating were between the age group of 10-14 years and played a number of different games that aimed at improving their strength, coordination, balance, focus, concentration and leadership skills. Coaches from the Forca Goa foundation looked over the proceedings and helped put the kids through their paces.
The event saw plenty of excitement and enjoyment thanks to the active participation of the children, and the school’s Director of Sports Sidharth Dessai expressed the importance of organising an event such as this in schools.
“I am very thankful to FC Goa for conducting a grassroots festival for our school students,” Dessai said.“The kids really enjoyed it as they got to learn a lot of things from the coaches.
”The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FC Goa, Aditya Datta also spoke about how such a program can help in the development of students at a young age and laid out plans to incorporate such events in other schools as well.
“It’s an amazing experience to see so many kids be involved,” Datta said.
“Our objective is to start training at an early age with a more scientific approach and this can be achieved with such a response. We hope to take this format and program to other schools of Goa as well.”
