KOCHI:
Synthetic drugs pose the biggest threat to humanity amid their increasing use among working youngsters, Kochi City Police Commissioner S Syamsundar, said today.
Often the youth get initiated to narcotics by sampling them for fun and sliding into the dark world that may turn out to be fatal, he said at a public awareness campaign on drug abuse organised by Infopark in association with IGP and Commissioner of Police (Kochi City).
“A stimulant such as methamphetamine, if consumed three times, can make the user a permanent addict of it. Not many people realise its seriousness,” the Police Commissioner pointed out at the event ‘Meet the Leaders; Fight Drugs Together’ at Thapasya Conference Hall of Infopark, Kakkanad.
Highlighting the need for public awareness drives against synthetic drugs to check the youth from their addiction, the speaker pointed out that rarely do efforts to break the distribution chain of narcotics earn the desired result.
The other participants at the event, which saw the participation from 150 employees of Infopark, were Thrikakara Assistant Commissioner Santhosh Kumar C.R., Station House Officer Anil Kumar, Geojit Executive Director A. Balakrishnan and Infopark Administration Manager Regi K. Thomas.
The Commissioner also answered to questions from the audience.
