GOA:
The foundation stone for the development of the football ground at Zariwado, Davorlim, Salcete was laid today at the hands of Avertano Furtado, Minister for Labour & Employment, Fisheries and NRI Affairs, in the presence of Ulhas Tuenkar, Zilla Panchayat Member, Davorlim, Tulshidas Dessa, Sarpanch,Village Panchayat Davorlim as well as other panchayat members. The project was blessed by Fr Protasio Soares Colaco, Chaplain of Our Lady Of Rosary Chapel, Zariwado.
Under the visionary leadership of Pramod P. Sawant, GSIDC is helping lead the way in building quality infrastructure for the state of Goa. Currently, the corporation is in the process of building roads, bridges, hospitals, colleges, schools, libraries, stadiums, jetties, bus stands, cultural centres and market complexes and is involved in the holistic development of rural and urban spaces.
Adding to this list of works, GSIDC has undertaken the development of the football ground at Zariwado, Davirlim, Salcete. The youth, local clubs and school students of Zariwado have been utilising the space for several years now, and the development of the ground infrastructure will be a boost to their sporting activities and in the encouragement of talent.
The proposed football ground will have a spectator stand with a capacity of approximately 1100 people. Other provisions include changing rooms for separate teams, toilet facilities, parking for two and four wheelers along with VIP parking area, a VIP room, store room and a referee’s/ first aid room.
Gurudutt Sanzgiri is the consultant on the project and Indage Construction Pvt Limited. is the contractor. The awarded cost of the project is approximately Rs 5.1 crores.
