Richarlyson Barbosa put in a superb performance in FC Goa’s win over FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex and helped his team to a 1-0 vi
ctory. With the win, FC Goa finally got off the bottom of the points table and lie 7th with seven points. The former Brazil international was an influential player all over the pitch for Zico’s side. Starting in a defensive midfield position, he nullified the threat of powerhouses Jonatan Lucca and Mohammed Sissoko in the Pune midfield. He constantly broke up play and started counter-attacks for Goa.
His positional play and awareness on the field was spot on. Additionally, his ability to take set pieces was also on full display when he set up Rafael Coelho with a superb corner kick. Unfortunately, the striker couldn’t convert the chance. Richarlyson, with experience of playing at the highest level on his side, will hope to inspire a turnaround for the Gaurs if they are to make the play offs in this season. He will want to continue with the rise up the table in the next match when FC Goa travel to Kochi to take on the Kerala Blasters FC in what promises to be a superb game.
