KOCHI:
Kerala Piravi day was celebrated with much vigour at Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor holding discussion on culture, history, art, natural diversity and beauty of the Malayalam land. The celebration of Kerala Piravi was made meaningful by the gathering of students and teachers in the shade of the Elengi tree in the school yard.
Following the assembly which explored the districts of Kerala and their characteristics in depth, the children learned the importance of tree species and unique agricultural crops including Mango tree, jackfruit tree, Kanikonna, Elengi, Anjili, Nelli and Njawal. Teacher Joseph Antony, who is also a senior farmer, led the students in imparting nature knowledge.
The children added sweetness to the Kerala Piravi celebration by telling and listening to stories in the shade of the Elengi tree about the blooming times of Manimarutu, Kadaplav and Chempakam. Folk songs, dances and quizzes were also organized in each class on the occasion. Principal Saritha Jayaraj delivered Kerala Piravi message to all.
