Govt Allows Buyers to Prepare and Register Property Documents Without Scribes

Thiruvananthapuram: Property buyers and sellers in Kerala can prepare and register property transaction documents themselves from now on, bypassing licensed document writers and advocates.

The state government has passed an order to this effect, to save the common man from the clutches of licensed writers and advocates who charged exorbitant fee from them.

Till now, licensed document writers and the advocates had the sole rights to prepare property registration documents.

Sample copies of the registration deeds ( aadharam )will be available on the website of the Registration Department. Buyers and sellers can copy the models. The new property documents will bear the names of the persons preparing it instead of the licensed writers.
