Govt Should Interfere in the Price Hike of Steel and Cement: Credai

KOCHI:
Credai Kochi president Ravi Jacob said that price hike of steel and cement will force the construction industry to increase Rs 1000 per square feet for buildings which will adversely affect the customers.

The price hike will lead to construction sector plunging into deep crisis. After the Covid crisis, the construction industry was slowly recovering and the present price hike will result in a total standstill.

The price hike will be an additional burden to the customers. The policy of the government to provide affordable houses will have a negative impact with the price hike in construction materials, he said.
