Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology for admission to M Tech. Marine Biotechnology

Applications are called for Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (Gat-B 2020), an eligibility test for admission to Department of Biotechnology supported Teaching Programmes by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

This examination is to rank the eligibility of the candidate among all applicants, and the candidates will be given a GAT-B rank based on which they may apply to the various DBT-supported PG programmes in participating institutions as per their respective admission and selection process. Cochin University of Science and Technology is offering M Tech programme in Marine Biotechnology sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India under Human Resource Development Programme, Coordinated by National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health (NCAAH).

This is the only M.Tech. programme in Marine Biotechnology offered in the Country having Global concept of education 'Find Solutions to the Human Problems in Class Rooms’. This is a four semester programme consisting of two semesters of intense theory, practical classes, assignments, problem analysis, skill training during summer semester break under approved skill courses of Ministry of Skill and Entrepreneurship Development, short term projects and case studies with full time research during the third and fourth semesters.

The programme is oriented towards generating Entrepreneurs, Scientists, Educationists and policy makers in Marine Biotechnology in particular, and in Biotechnology in general with global perspectives. The course has been approved by AICTE. A studentship of Rs. 12000.0 pm is provided as per the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

The candidates having minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (under grading system) from any recognized university in B.Tech. or BE in Biotechnology/M.Sc in any branch of Life Science including Marine Biology are eligible to apply for GAT-B for admission to M.Tech. Marine Biotechnology programme. The last date for submission of online applications for GAT-B is 18 th June, 2020.

The GAT-B will be conducted in selected Centers all over India on 30 th June, 2020 and the GAT-B rank of candidates will be declared on 20 th July, 2020. The detailed procedures for filling up online applications for GAT-B, the payment of application fee and uploading of required documents/certificates in the prescribed format, and the syllabus are given at: www.rcb.res.in/GATB. A non-refundable and non-transferable application fee of Rs. 1000/- is payable online by General/ OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- by SC/ ST/ EWS/ Differently abled candidates.
