KALPETTA:
Harrisons Malayalam Limited organised a get-together called Navajeevitham-Sneha Sangam for the workers and staff of Sentinel Rock Estate on Saturday, which coincided with Kerala Piravi and Diwali.
The event, which turned out to be a gathering of those who have worked in Harrisons for years, was a confidence booster to recover from the trauma of the landslide disaster.
T Siddique, MLA, HML CEO Cherian M George, trade union leaders, and representatives of workers of Arrapetta, Achoor, Chundale, and Touramulla estates participated in the meeting. During the programme, they shared their experiences and comforted each other, which was intended to motivate the workers who lost their loved ones in the disaster to return to work.
Sarees were distributed to women employees, dhotis and shirts to men, and sweets to all. Workers and staff attended the event at St. Joseph’s Jubilee Memorial Hall in Meppadi, Moopainad.
HML CEO Cherian M George and trade union leaders led the sweet box and gift distribution. Experts from Rajagiri Counselling Centre conducted group counselling sessions. The employees also organised cultural programmes.
