Heavy Rain in Kerala Since Yesterday, Flood and Damages Reported

 


Thiruvananthapuram: The heavy downpour which started since yesterday has caused widespread damages in Kerala. A flood-like situation has been reported from various places.

The 122-metre main transmission tower of Akashvani at Kulathoor in Thiruvananthapuram collapsed due to heavy winds, silencing voice of the broadcasting giant for the first time since its inception in 1937.

A tree which was uprooted in the winds fell on Thiruvananthapuram- Chennai Egmore Express Train which was stationary at Nemom Station in Thiruvananthapuram.

Ernakulam district Collector has alerted the public about the rising water level in Bhoothathankettu Dam.

State Disaster Management Authority has released an alert notice about heavy winds tomorrow.
