Third Edition of PSS 2023 Concluded

The third edition of Professional Students’ Summit (PSS) which provides a platform to connect the student community with industry experts and leaders was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Saturday. The summit was organized by ASAP Kerala under the department of Higher Education.

In his inaugural address, the chief minister said, the summit would be beneficial in improving the quality of higher education sector and creating new opportunities for students to become future employers rather becoming job seekers. Minister for Higher Education, Dr R. Bindu presided over the function.

Padma Bhushan Dr Krishna Ella, Executive Chairman of Bharat Biotech, who was the chief guest. In his keynote address, Dr Ella talked about how to become an entrepreneur through innovation and interacted with the students. He reiterated the importance of skill development along with education which is essential to create future entrepreneurs. Chief Secretary V P Joy IAS, Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department Ishita Roy, ASAP Kerala CMD Dr Usha Titus were present along with other invited dignitaries in the inaugural session.

The summit witnessed 14 thematic sessions held parallel at various venues in which 25 subject experts from industry, corporate and academia shared their experience and interacted with the students. A discussion on ‘Foster a knowledge-based economy in Kerala’ was also held at all the venues.

Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan, Chairman of NAAC, Amit Mehta, Head of Training and certification, AWS India, Dr. Bala Venkatesh, Professor at University of South Wales, Australia, Joy Sebastian, co-founder and CEO, Techgentia, Vimal Govind M K, co-founder and CEO, Genrobotics Innovations, John Kuriakose, Founder and MD, Dentcare Dental Lab Pvt Ltd, Dr Latha Venkatesan, Principal, AIIMS College of Nursing, New Delhi and other experts from various fields were addressed the students.

As many as 2000 students and 500 teachers from more than 400 professional colleges participated in the summit. The summit concluded with a musical performance by Agam Band.
