In Kochi
October 01, 2016

KOCHI:
ITB Berlin’s Corporate Social Responsibility Commissioner Rika Jean- Francois will be inaugurating Imprints, a painting exhibition by Reshma Thomas, at 5.30 pm at David Hall in Fort Kochi on Sepermber 28.
The series of paintings showcases the lasting impressions on the minds of growing children and their influence on character formation, said Reshma, who is a research student at Anna Adarsh reshmaCollege in Chennai on the issues
of transgenders.
Vinay Fort, film actor, will join the artist on Sept. 30 in an interaction with school students. Reshma has interacted with many schoolchildren as part of her research for the series of paintings. Imprints is Reshma’s third exhibition. Her first solo, A is for Art, in 2015 was done in support of transgenders. Her second solo in Thiruvananthapuram, Mind Network, was held last year in connection with the world mental health day.
Kerala is the first state in India to adopt a gender policy. Reshma has given constructive suggestions to the formation of the policy. Reshma, who is a self-taught artist, said Imprints is being held also with an aim to help students who need financial support.
Reshma believes that her art does not just interpret and represent life but magnifies it. Bold and assertive, her collections are testimony to her careful and colourful capturing of the deepest and simplest impulses in evocative shades and textures.
Her works have been a representation of the violence and struggle of our
everyday life, and her attempts to get us reconsider the world we are creating.S andeep Dayal from Cox and Kings, which supports the show, and Mridula from David Hall Art Gallery, will also attend the inaugural function. The exhibition will be open from 11 am to 7pm till Oct 4.
