On the evening of 7th June 2017 at about 17:45 hrs, the victim Chandan Gujjar (22) along with his brother and two other friends, all working at a nearby restaurant in Sinque
The victim and his companions went down onto the rocks to click pictures. While clicking a picture the victim was hit by an oncoming wave due to which he lost his balance and fell into the sea and could not be spotted by his companions.
The incident was brought to the notice of Lifeguard Manoj Rawol who was patrolling along the Sinquerim beach stretch. Lifeguard Manoj immediately informed the lifeguard tower about the incident. Lifeguard captain Sunil Matondkar and the Indian Reserve Battalian (IRB) Police rushed to the spot to conduct search and rescue operations but were unable to trace the victim’s body.
On 8th June 2017 at about 15:10 hrs the body of the victim was washed ashore at Candolim. The lifeguards immediately informed the police about the same.
