India Fashion Summit 2016, the first ever premier business national conference which hosts country’s leading designers and industry experts was inaugurated by Tourism Director U V Jose along with Arun Balachandran, CEO, India Fashion Summit and Vinod Nair, leading fashion journalist and advisor at India Fashion Summit.
“The establishment of NIFT and Fashion magazines has really brought Indian fashion on map” said Narendra Kumar, Creative Head, Amazon Fashion during the first session of panel discussions at the India Fashion Summit 2016. “There are a lot of people who still don’t reach fashion. Indian Fashion is setup to expand multifold in the next few years” he added.
When asked about fashion and its growth in India, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, one of the leading designers of the nation replied by saying “The more and more people, comes to India for more experiences.
People are looking for authenticity and wellness; no other country can give them luxury other than India. Indian customers are deeth, they exactly know what they want to spend on.”
The leading designers and Industry experts came together to address topics that will help tackle the challenges and further the growth of the industry. Leading designer Rahul Mishra, Shantanu, Nikhil and Beena Kannnan, Fashion Retail Heads such as Narendra Kumar (Chief Creative Officer, Amazon),
Gautam Kotamraju ( Creative Head of Private Brands,Amazon) Pernia Qureshi (Founder of Pernia’s Pop Up Shop), Jaspreeth Chandok (Vice President and Head of Fashion, IMG Reliance), Fashion stylist and consultant Prasad Bidapa , fashion journalists Neena Haridas (Editor, L’Officiel) and Vinod Nair (Former Fashion Editor,Hindustan Times and Times Of India) and other prominent personalities from the world of fashion were present on the dias.

The event was followed by the LifeStyle awards function in which the invited dignitaries and prominent personalities from the film fraternity are honored. It is a cultural event hosted by Kerala Tourism where talents from the region perform before invited guests.
