India’s first Comprehensive Scleroderma Clinic to Start at Kochi on April 2

KOCHI:
India’s first Comprehensive Scleroderma clinic to start at Centre for Rheumatic Excellence, (Dr.Shenoy’s CARE) Nettoor, Kochi.
Prof. KV Thomas MP will inaugurate the clinic and the scleroderma camp on 2nd April 10 am at IMA hall,
Ernakulam. About 200 Scleroderma patients and their family members across Kerala will participate in the camp organized in association with the launch of clinic.
Scleroderma is an autoimmune rheumatic disease in which thickening of skin as the first symptom. comprehensive scleroderma clinic @ kochi Photo captionHeart, Lungs, blood vessels etc. are then affected. As the situation worsens the structure of face of the patients become similar which may affect the mental health and family life of patients.
It is a rare disease of two in ten thousand are affected. Though the disease is having a higher mortality rate, the awareness about its treatment is lesser. It is found that 40% of the affected people will lose their lives within five years of disease.
Specialist doctors from various medical branches is required for effective treatment. For the first time in India, Care is offering a comprehensive solution by integrating Pulmonologist, Gastroenterologist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Dermatologist, Rheumatologist, Cardiologist etc. As per data there are about four lakhs scleroderma patients in India says Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy in the press meet.
Study about Scleroderma conducted by Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy, founder Care
, had won international recognition. There was no clinical studies conducted for the treatment available for shrinking of lungs by scleroderma. The medicines and injections given as part of treatment were not scientifically proven to be effective.
The study conducted by Dr. Shenoy on 70 patients for four years proved that the medicines are effective. These findings were published on London based Arthritis Research and Therapy Journal. Dr. Sreelakshmi Sreenath and Dr. Glindow Antony are also present in the press conference.
