KOCHI:
State Government’s Energy Management Center has launched one-day workshops on energy efficiency in ten industrial clusters in collaboration with The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) . Former Chief Secretary and KSIDC Chairman Paul Antony inaugurated the workshop series.
The first one day workshop on “Industrial Energy Efficiency in Rice Mills” was organized in collaboration with Kerala Rice Millers Association. Paul Antony said that the use of modern technologies to reduce the cost of electricity in rice mills would reduce the cost of production and KSIDC will provide all the necessary support for piloting innovative technologies. Everyone needs to be made aware of the need to reduce energy consumption. He assured that there was no need to look for technologies and KSIDC would extend all possible assistance. He also pointed out that the use of solar can significantly reduce the cost of electricity.
Dr. R. Harikumar, Director of the Energy Management Center, who presided over the event, said that many technologies and machinery to reduce the cost of production are available today to use energy efficiently. Solar energy should be used effectively. He also said that the EMC’s funding assistant would be available if the rice mills in Kerala were ready to use the latest technologies.
Kerala Rice Mills Association General Secretary Varkey Peter, FICCI Kerala State Council Co-Chair Deepak Aswani, FICCI Resource Conservation and Management Director M.N. Gireesh and FICCI Kerala State Council President Savio Mathew spoke on the occasion.
