Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles and Indian Armed Forces Successfully Conclude the Third Edition of Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride

PUNE:
Continuing its #ForeverHeroes Initiative, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, in partnership with the Indian Armed Forces, takes immense pride in announcing the successful completion of yet another edition of the Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride. The expedition aimed at commemorating the valour and sacrifices of our armed forces during the Kargil War 24 years ago, and to pay tribute to the resolute spirit of our bravehearts who laid down their lives while protecting the nation. This year, the Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride was undertaken by the Naga regiment of the Indian Army. The theme of the expedition was ‘First Breath to Last’, connecting the birthplace of the Naga soldiers, to the place they breathed their last in the war of 1999.

Flagged off on 2nd July 2023 from Kohima, Nagaland, the convoy of 24 riders, consisting of veterans, officers, and soldiers from the Indian Armed Forces, displayed exemplary unity and camaraderie throughout the expedition. As a symbolic representation of the theme, and a tribute to our fallen heroes, the riders took with them soil from the land of the Nagas – ‘sacred soil’ – and undertook a remarkable journey spanning over 3,620 kilometres, traversing through challenging terrains, major military establishments, and revered war memorials.

The ride culminated at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Kargil, where the riders of the Naga regiment handed over the sacred soil to GOC 8 Division, Maj Gen Sachin Malik. A ceremony was held in honour of the fallen heroes who fought valiantly for the nation. The riders paid their respects and laid wreaths, symbolizing their gratitude and reverence for their comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice.

As part of the expedition, the riders travelled across various key cities across the country, including Dimapur, Guwahati, Siliguri, Danapur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Dras, to experience the rich history and cultural heritage, the cities had to offer. In Guwahati and Chandigarh, the riders were felicitated and welcomed at the Jawa Yezdi dealerships.

Classic Legends’ CEO, Ashish Singh Joshi, expressed immense pride as the company celebrates its ongoing partnership with the Indian Armed Forces on the momentous occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas and here is what he had to say, “Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles firmly believes in upholding a deep respect for the selfless sacrifice made by our men and women in uniform, who ensure the safety, security, and strength of our great nation. With a family background of military service, I recognize and appreciate the bravery of our soldiers and also the unwavering support, spirit, and sacrifices made by their families who stand steadfastly behind them with courage and resilience amidst challenges and uncertainties.

Over the years, we have consistently extended our support to numerous causes in close coordination with the armed forces, successfully fostering crucial awareness among the masses. This year, our partnership holds special significance as we honour the valiant efforts and supreme sacrifice of the Naga Regiment during the Kargil conflict in 1999. We are privileged to facilitate a remarkable contingent of the Naga Regiment, equipping them with Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles for a ride to the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, an honour we deeply cherish.

Additionally, our enduring alliance with the Indian Armed Forces further solidifies our commitment to this noble cause. Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles recognizes the paramount importance of the Ladakh region and acknowledges the pivotal role played by the army as its guardians.” Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles’ participation in the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations strengthens the brand’s #ForeverHeroes initiative.
