‘Jeevitham 2022’ – Aster Medcity Commences Roadshows

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Aster Medcity launches ‘Jeevitham 2022’ a roadshow campaign with the aim of creating awareness on the importance of first aid programmes as October 17th is celebrated as World Trauma Day. The roadshow has 50+ halting points in eight southern districts, where a live skit on various medical emergencies and first-aid programmes will be performed by the staff including doctors and nurses by the Emergency Medicine Department, Aster Medcity, Kochi.

C. Udayakumar, Deputy General Manager, KSRTC flagged off the roadshow from KSRTC Bus station, Thambanoor, Trivandrum on Monday, covering districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur and ending in Ernakulam on 17th of the month.

As part of the show, pamphlets and booklets including information on first aid will be distributed in the halting points to create and spread awareness on the same. Digital pamphlets are also available where they can scan the QR code and read about various medical emergencies and its care.

The World Trauma Day highlights the increasing rate of accidents and injuries causing death and disabilities and the need to prevent them and encourage people to come forward to do necessary life support.

” A medical emergency can have life-threatening consequences. But if onlookers can provide adequate training, they can make a difference and ease the situation,” said Dr. Johnson K. Varghese, Head – Emergency Medicine, Aster Medcity, Kochi.

“As a responsible leader in healthcare services, we have contributed to treat and save many lives. It is admirable that we have conducted many awareness programmes including hands-on training and seminars to educate people about various health conditions. One such initiative is ‘Jeevitham-2022’ which covers the entire state of Kerala. The overwhelming positive responses from the public motivate us to take further socially responsible actions,” said Farhan Yasin, Regional Director of Aster Hospitals- Kerala and Oman Cluster.

‘Jeevitham-2022’ is a part of Aster’s Emergency Medicine initiative BeFirst, to aid and Save lives, by reducing pre-hospital death in case of medical emergencies. Under this initiative Aster Hospitals collaborate with institutions to train people on various aspects of medical emergencies and how to handle them like a pro. The specialized doctors from Aster Hospitals conduct workshops on first aid, Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support to equip one to handle medical emergencies.
