Kerala State Central Schools Sports Meet: Ernakulam Lifts Overall Title

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Ernakulam district emerged the overall champions with 105 points in the first edition of the Kerala State Central Schools Sports Meet, which concluded at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here today.
Ernakulam, which demonstrated its supremacy on the opening day of the two-day event yesterday, maintained the winning spree on the second day as well, relegating its rivals Kozhikode (65 points) and Thrissur districts (56 points) to the second and third places respectively. The first sporting event that brought together the budding talents from central schools including CBSE, ISCSE and Jawhar Navodaya schools across Kerala was organised by the Kerala State Sports Council.
Minister for Industries, Sports and Youth Affairs A.C. Moideen, gave away the prizes to the winners at the valedictory function, presided over by Kerala Sports Council president T P Dasan. Marigiry Public School, Koothattukulam , Ernakulam, emerged the topmost performer bagging 36.33 points.
Carmel Public School, Vazhakulam, also from Ernakulam, and St. Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram , came second and third respectively. In Girls Under-14 and 17, and Boys Under-17 categories Ernakulam claimed tops slots. In Boys Under-14 category Kozhikode topped.
