Kerala’s Private IT Parks, Companies to be Affiliated with Government IT Parks

KOCHI:
Kerala government has approved a programme to affiliate private IT parks, technology and digital companies, and co-working spaces with state-run IT parks.

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology issued an official order on Saturday authorising CEOs of government IT parks to implement this initiative, which aims to promote comprehensive growth of the IT sector across Kerala.

This initiative integrates establishments operating outside of government hubs into the official Kerala IT network.

The CEOs of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram; Infopark, Kochi; and Government Cyberpark, Kozhikode, are responsible for overseeing the programme that uses existing staff without imposing additional financial burdens on the state exchequer.

The programme aims to identify small and medium-sized IT enterprises and address their specific business challenges, with a focus on job creation and increasing software exports.

By leveraging the strength of the Kerala IT brand, the initiative will also facilitate the establishment of new IT parks through public-private partnership (PPP) models in collaboration with private entrepreneurs.

Entities that participate in the programme will receive comprehensive support, including mentorship, executive mentoring, and financial incentives for filing patents.

Additionally, they will be allowed to use the official Kerala IT Park Affiliate logo, list job openings on the IT park portal, and participate in prominent national and international exhibitions.

To improve operational efficiency, the programme offers training sessions, group insurance for employees, legal assistance, and access to a single-window business system.

Based on regular performance reports, affiliated institutions will be categorised into Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels to determine their specific benefits and recognition.

The jurisdiction for this programme is strategically divided across the state to ensure regional coverage.

Technopark will oversee affiliations in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts. Infopark will manage Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Idukki, Kottayam, and Thrissur. Government Cyberpark will oversee institutions located in Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod, Malappuram, and Wayanad.

By combining public-sector oversight with private-sector efficiency, this initiative is expected to transform Kerala into a global IT investment destination and build a robust foundation for the state’s digital economy.
