KIMSHEALTH Organises Bullet Rally to Raise Awareness Against Tobacco

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
KIMSHEALTH Thiruvananthapuram, in association with the Vimukthi mission of the Kerala State Government, successfully organised the ‘Beat the Fumes’ bullet rally in observance of World No Tobacco Day. Joint Excise Commissioner Gopakumar R flagged off the event, which saw the participation of around 150 riders. Dr. Rohit S, Consultant, Respiratory Department, delivered an awareness speech, highlighting the severe health consequences associated with tobacco use, such as lung cancer, heart disease, and respiratory disorders. The event commenced at Kanakakunnu and traversed various parts of the city, concluding at the starting point.

According to the World Health Organization, tobacco-related diseases claim the lives of an estimated 80 million people annually. In light of this grave situation, Gopakumar R emphasised the crucial need for the public’s wholehearted support in combating this epidemic. KIMSHEALTH Executive Director E.M. Najeeb, in his presidential address, underscored the urgency of collaborative efforts between the healthcare sector and the government to devise effective strategies to curb the rising incidence of drug abuse in the state. KIMSHEALTH Healthcare Promotions and Revenue Cycle Management Group Head Vinod Y.R, Healthcare Promotions Deputy General Manager Anil Paul Jacob, Nazar Kadayara, Abdul Azeez, and Faizal participated in the event.

As part of the awareness rally, around 30 students from the KIMS College of Nursing captivated the audience with a flash mob performance. The event also witnessed the active participation of several Royal Enfield riding clubs in and around Thiruvananthapuram, further amplifying the campaign’s message.
