KSUM to Mark Ground Breaking Ceremony of KTIZ

KOCHI:
In an attempt to bring multiple technology incubators under one umbrella, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will mark the ground breaking ceremony of its first building of Kerala Technology Innovation Zone (KTIZ) at Kinfra Hi-Tech Park in Kalamassery, on Wednesday, 10 am.
Kerala State IT secretary M Sivasankar, will lead the event. The 13.2 acre-KTIZ complex will serve as a global innovation incubator hub for different players in the technology space. KTIZ’s incubator model will focus on ICT, electronics, IoT, robotics, biotech and other industries, by creating individual verticals for each sector with dedicated infrastructure and research facilities.
“Kerala has already made significant advances in the digital and IT sector. We want to capitalise on this revolution and support technology-focused entrepreneurs, who have the potential to bring to life pathbreaking solutions for social good as well. KTIZ will serve as the leading end-to-end incubation model through various stages of technological innovation,” said KSUM CEO Dr Saji Gopinath.
Specifically focusing on home-grown enterprises, the innovation centre will be a one-stop solution for different stages of technology creation, which will include conceptualisation, incubation and acceleration of ideas; mentoring innovators; as well as attracting angel investors. One of the primary objectives of KTIZ would be to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of young innovators, by hosting cross-sector innovation programmes, targeting solutions for social impact.
Funded by Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd, the estimated cost of KTIZ is nearly 90 crore rupees. Its world-class infrastructure will boast of state-of-art incubator spaces and fabrication labs, R&D facilities, a 500-seater theatre, convention centers, training areas, a product display lounge, exhibition stalls, commercial and residential blocks.
The construction of the building, with a capacity to host over 4,000 people on a single day, will be completed by April 2020.
