Turning a new chapter in its efforts to transform industry incubators into a vibrant co-working space, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is launching tomorrow an ambitious programme that seeks to foster innovation and collaboration in the ecosystem.

The innovative ‘LEAP Coworks’ aims to create an environment that encourages networking for the benefit of startups and entrepreneurs, according to KSUM Assistant Manager Arun Gireesan. “This rebranding will better reflect our mission to provide comprehensive support and resources to startups and entrepreneurs in Kerala,” he said about LEAP, which is the acronym for ‘Launch Empower Accelerate Prosper’.

On Thursday, KSUM will formally roll out LEAP, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-designed workspaces, meeting rooms, high-speed internet connectivity and other essential amenities required for a productive work environment. Dr Usha Titus, Chairperson and Managing Director of Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) under the state government, will inaugurate the ceremony at the Coworking Centre here, organisers said today.

Kasaragod MLA N.A. Nellikunnu will address the function at 10.30 a.m. to be presided over by KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika. Others to address will be Kasaragod District Collector Inbashekar K., District Panchayat President Baby Balakrishnan and Vice-President Shanavas Padhoor. KSUM’s Kasaragod incubator will be opened on the occasion. The other speakers are Live Law founder P.V. Dinesh, Entri app founder CEO Mohammed Hisamuddin and Advocate Harish Vasudevan.

The ceremony will be followed by founder’s talks by Shri Mathew Joseph (Fresh To Home) and Shri Joy Sebastian (Techgentia). Firoz Kannipoyil (FZ Rover) will deliver an influencer’s talk.

The June 22 event will be attended by 250 delegates comprising students and youngsters as well as aspiring and news entrepreneurs. Besides the talks, there will be a drone expo and workshops, including one on ChatGPT.

The press meet was also addressed by KSUM Business Development Coordinator Sayyid Sawad and Incubator Manager Vignesh Radhakrishnan.

KSUM, while enabling transition into a coworking model through LEAP, will continue to provide incubation support services to startups. These will include mentorship programs, business development assistance, access to funding opportunities and expert guidance. LEAP aims to foster a community of like-minded individuals and startups, organising regular events, workshops and networking sessions to facilitate connections.

Further, KSUM will introduce flexible membership plans to accommodate various needs of the startup, including hot desks, dedicated desks, and private office spaces. These plans will provide startups with the flexibility to scale their operations as they grow.

LEAP aims to become the single access point for entrepreneurs to enter the startup ecosystem, the KSUM officials told a press conference here. Also, one will get access to the KSUM schemes like grants, seed loans, market access, mentors’ connect and investors’ connect. Angel investors and venture capitalists benefit from LEAP Coworks as they gain exposure to a vibrant community of startups and entrepreneurs, creating opportunities for investment and strategic partnerships.

KSUM is the nodal agency of the Kerala government for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
